1 dead, 4 in critical condition following stabbing on Apple River in Somerset


Authorities say one person has died and four people are in critical condition after a stabbing in Somerset, Wis. late Saturday afternoon.

According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were first called to the Apple River north of the Highway 35 and 64 bridge around 3:45 p.m.

One person is in custody for the stabbing.

Authorities have identified the lone suspect as a man in his 50’s, but no other details about the suspect were provided.

Police are asking community members to avoid the area as they continue their investigation and collect evidence.

A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS photographer could see multiple people talking with police around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

As of this time, police say there is no longer a threat to the community.
