Police arrested a 19-year-old last week after he was allegedly seen on surveillance footage stealing multiple electronic items from Best Buy in northeast Cedar Rapids.
According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, officers were called just before 7 p.m. Wednesday to Best Buy at 4650 First Avenue NE where is was reported that a male suspect had entered the store taken several floor models of Apple products and left without paying.
The items included an iPhone 12, a MacBook Air and a 44 mm Apple Watch, totaling in value at approximately $2,625, which the suspect concealed on his person and walked out of the store, police said.
Video surveillance of the theft was obtained by investigators and still photos of the suspect were pulled from the video and provided to patrol officers for identification purposes.
The suspect was identified as Caleb Solomon, of Cedar Rapids.
That evening just before 11 p.m., officers responded to the report of a suspicious subject at 330 66th Avenue SW. Police said the appearance of the suspicious person match the description of the theft suspect.
Police said Solomon taken into custody and transported to the Linn County Jail. He faces a charge of second-degree theft.
The stolen items were recovered from a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora, police said.
