When it comes to clamshell foldables, Motorola really wants you to think about them before you think about Samsung. In terms of the actual hardware, I actually think that Motorola wins, but there’s nothing quite like Samsung’s mass appeal. This year, though, it seems Motorola will make you pay attention by all means.
The Motorola Razr (2025) and Razr+ (2025)—AKA, the Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra, depending on your region—are expected to launch soon, and it seems that Motorola is really planning to knock it out of the park this year. Both phones are expected to get even bigger batteries, and in true Motorola fashion, several hot colorways.
The Motorola Razr Lineup for 2025 Is Coming With Battery Boosts All Around
If you’re an oldhead, you know how genius Motorola’s decision to revive its Razr branding was. It is the most iconic flip phone of all time, so the branding was right there for the taking when the company decided to enter the clamshell foldable market in 2019. In 2025, the lineup is still going strong, with the OEM releasing a regular and a plus model every year.
I think the new Razr phones don’t get as much recognition as they should since they’re genuinely fantastic devices, and this year, they’re going to get even better. One of the notable upgrades to expect is in the battery department.
Last year, the Razr+ (2024) came with a 4,000mAh battery, bigger than its predecessor, and the Razr (2024) came with a 4,200mAh cell, unchanged from 2023’s model. This year, both phones will get larger batteries. Thanks to its TENAA certification, we know the Razr+ (2025) will get a 4,500mAh battery, marking a 12.5% boost. Plus, thanks to a leak from XpertPick, we know the regular Razr (2025) is expected to match at 4,500mAh.
The Razr+ (2025) Is Expected to Be a Powerhouse
The Razr+ (2025) might not be physically bigger, but it is still a plus model, which means that it maximizes the specs where it can. The battery will be the same size, but the wired charging is expected to take a bump up to 68W, which will be very welcome.
That’s not the star of the show, though. The phone is expected to come with the very powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite from Qualcomm, with a top configuration of 18GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. For a phone as “dainty” as a clamshell foldable, that is a ridiculous amount of muscle.
Motorola Is Planning Some Fun Colors This Year, As Usual
Motorola likes its colors, and it has collaborated with Pantone on numerous occasions to bring really exciting hues to your smartphone. In the case of the Razr+ (2025), we know it will be available in woodgrain, green, and Rio Red colorways, with the latter having leaked quite some time ago.
In the case of the regular Razr (2025), XpertPick has leaked some animated gifs showing the device from all angles and in its three colorways: Pantone Gibraltar, Pantone Lightest Sky, and Spring Bud. I’m a big fan of the navy blue Gibraltar tone, but for those who want something more playful, the mint-toned Spring Bud might be the one for you.
