5 Features I’d Love To See In The Galaxy S25 Series

1. Faster Charging

If you’ve been reading my articles for a while, you might have picked up on a little something: I absolutely hate Samsung for its insistence on staying dated when it comes to charging speeds.

Before my current phone, I had a Galaxy Note 10+—which came out in 2019—and it supported 45W fast charging. My S22 Ultra came out in 2022, and it supports 45W fast charging. The S24 Ultra came out in 2024, and it supports 45W fast charging. Oh, and spoiler alert: the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 look set to stick at 25W (not even 45W).

So, I would certainly love for Samsung to amp up the charging to at least 80W. It’d be a huge jump for them, considering where they are, but 80W would certainly be a number that’s easy to feel. The latest flagships from Honor, Huawei, and OnePlus do at least that, so Samsung joining the club would be a major perk. A little bump on the batteries wouldn’t be bad, either.

2. A New Design

The design of the S family has stayed mostly the same since 2022, and the similarities can even be seen in the S21 series. Personally, I love the direction the S24 devices took with the flat frames — especially the Ultra model with the flat screen.

However, I think it is certainly time for a facelift. I’m not all about the aesthetics, and I do think the phones are already gorgeous as is, but I don’t think I’d want to upgrade to a phone that looks almost indistinguishable from one that’s three years older.

3. An Even Faster Refresh Rate

A 120Hz LTPO display is fantastic, especially considering Samsung has arguably the best screens in the game. But if we’re going to be maxing out specs for one of the most popular flagship families, I don’t think 144Hz is too much to ask for. Even brands like Motorola are doing it, and if Samsung is concerned about the battery, they could make sure it only activates under the right circumstances, like when gaming or watching supported content.

4. The Latest Standards (Bluetooth, USB, Wi-Fi)

You might not pay a lot of attention to them when Samsung launches a phone and screams about titanium, cameras, and brighter screens, but the hardware standards that certain aspects of the phone run on are incredibly important.

The S24 family runs on Bluetooth 5.3, but there’s Bluetooth 5.4 running on some devices already (like the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro). That’ll get you better power efficiency and a more secure connection. A newer UFS standard seems set to come with the S25 already, and I like that.

Then, USB. Phones run on USB Type-C 3.2 for charging and data transmission, but I don’t think anyone would complain if data transmission got a little bit faster. There are no phones with USB 4 connectors yet, but there can always be a first.

Finally, the S24 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, but the lower-priced models don’t get that luxury. Bringing Wi-Fi 7 across the board for the S25 family would be a very nice touch.

5. A Higher-Resolution Selfie Shooter

The selfie camera in the S24 family is just 12MP. That doesn’t stop it from being pretty great with the photos it shoots, but there’s nothing wrong with a few extra megapixels. 50MP might be too big a jump, but my girl likes to take selfies with my phone, and I’m certain she’d be over the moon with a better front-facing camera.

An Unlikely Bonus: An IR Blaster

Finally, as a bit of an honorable mention, I’d be incredibly excited if the IR blaster were to make a climactic return. The last time it showed up in a Galaxy device was with the Galaxy S6 back in 2015, so it’d be a ten-year hiatus if Samsung were to bring it back with the S25.

Obviously, I know it is nearly impossible to see a return, but a man can dream, can’t he?
