Following on from 2023, AI continues to be a major buzzword when it comes to new products of both the physical and virtual variety. After a slow start, Google Bard is catching up to its AI competitors such as OpenAI’s Chat GPT and 2024 will see the addition of a host of new features to the search giant’s AI product, although it’s not certain which of these features will make it out of development. Something else that may also be coming to Google’s AI service is the addition of a paid tier called Bard Advanced.
New Features In Development
Thanks to Dylan Roussel’s post on X (formerly Twitter), we know that the Google Bard team is hard at work developing some exciting new features for the AI product. Besides a line of code suggesting that Google plans to add a paid tier called Bard Advanced,
Motoko
There isn’t too much detail on the ‘Motoko’ feature yet other than it has something to do with Google letting you “Create Bots.” It is yet to be determined whether it will be similar to OpenAI’s custom GPTs and of course, there’s no telling if or even when Google will add the feature to Google Bard.
Bard Advanced
This is another mention of the paid-for Bard Advanced tier, in conjunction with three months of access through Google One. Bard Advanced will reportedly use Gemini Ultra, a more powerful version of the Gemini Nano feature available on the Pixel 8 Pro.
Gallery
The next feature being worked on is called “Gallery” but it doesn’t seem to offer what the name suggests, instead the blurb says “Explore different topics to see what you can do with Bard.” This rather gives the impression that “Gallery” is just a working title for a section that displays ways to use Bard for productivity, well-being, coding, and content creation.
Tasks
The leak has little to no information on the Tasks function other than, as you might suspect, it has something to go with running scheduled tasks or perhaps keeps tabs on the jobs you’ve assigned to Bard such as creating a summary of a meeting or generating an image.
Sharing Background/Foreground
The feature will reportedly allow the sharing of a link with the ability to set a background and foreground.
Power Up
According to Roussel, the “Power Up” function will improve your prompts by using AI to expand upon them. Little else is known about Power Up just yet, but it’s likely something like an assistant to help you maximize the quality of the results generated by Google Bard.
As mentioned, there’s no official word on when or even if any of these features in development will be implemented, we’ll know what Google is like when it comes to killing off projects. But, it does show that the search giant has big things in store for its Bard AI, and while we aren’t all that excited about the reported paid-for tier, Google will want its pound of flesh in some way, shape, or form.
