Rumor: iPadOS 19 will add Mac-like Menu Bar and Stage Manager 2.0

We’re just weeks away from WWDC, and today a new rumor has offered fresh details regarding what Apple has in store for iPadOS 19 and its macOS-like upgrades, including a menu bar and ‘Stage Manager 2.0.’

macOS-style upgrades coming to iPadOS 19

Today Majin Bu has shared a big new rumor concerning Apple’s plans for iPadOS 19.

Bu earlier this week said the iPhone 17 Pro may come in Sky Blue, and now he’s back with details on two iPadOS 19 changes:

One of the most exciting changes will benefit those using the iPad with a Magic Keyboard. When connected, the interface will adapt to show a menu bar at the top, just like on macOS, turning the iPad into a much more laptop-like experience.

Another key update is Stage Manager 2.0, an enhanced multitasking mode that activates automatically when the keyboard is attached. It will make managing apps and windows smoother and more productive than ever.

Previously, Mark Gurman has reported that Apple plans to focus on “productivity, multitasking and app window management” with iPadOS 19.

We lacked any specific details on what this could mean, though, until now.

9to5Mac Take

Adding a menu bar to the iPad has long been tossed around as an idea by heavy iPadOS users, including myself. I’m really keen to see what kind of new possibilities this could unlock for making the iPad feel more powerful.

Bu’s details on ‘Stage Manager 2.0’ are minimal, but I have to say I’m excited on that front too. The current version of Stage Manager has never quite clicked with me, so I’m down for a fresh take from Apple.
