The OnePlus 13T: New Design, Compact, But With Huge Performance

For each of the eras that OnePlus has made phones in, one could argue that it has never made a compact device before. Perhaps the most compact phone it has made would be the OnePlus X. With a 5-inch display, it was smaller than OnePlus’ standard of 5.5 inches in the same year. Yet, Sony’s Z5 Compact that same year had a 4.6-inch screen.

Compact phones in 2025 have 6.3-inch displays or smaller and a lot of Chinese OEMs have been hopping on that wagon recently. OnePlus doesn’t want to be left out and has just launched the OnePlus 13T. It not only revives the company’s T suffix, but it also brings a fresh design and high-end performance.

OnePlus Jumps Into the Compact Field With the OnePlus 13T

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a OnePlus T device, and while they’ve never meant compact, it seems that OnePlus might be ready to repurpose it for that. The OnePlus 13T is here, and despite being small, it shouldn’t be underestimated. This device is a beast.

The Design

The OnePlus 13T is a good-looking phone. It has a flat screen, flat sides, and a flat back panel. The only thing that doesn’t make the back panel completely flush is, unsurprisingly, the camera module. It has a sort of Pixel 9 Pro Fold look to it, being mostly metallic, with an oval cutout for the dual-camera setup and two circular cutouts for sensors and the flash.

The phone comes with the new Shortcut Key, in place of the beloved Alert Slider. The phone is available in Gray, Pink, and Black colorways. Surprisingly, it only comes with IP65 certification.

The Screen

This phone is compact, with a 6.32-inch 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display. The resolution is FHD+ (1216×2640), which isn’t bad at all, considering its size. You get 1,600-nit peak brightness and support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HDR Vivid.

The Hardware

The OnePlus 13T might be small, but it is a flagship phone in every sense of the word, and despite its small build, I’d choose it over the OnePlus 13R on any day of the week. Here’s a quick rundown of some of its performance-related specs:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite
  • UFS 4.0 storage, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB options
  • LPDDR5X RAM, 12GB (256GB and 512GB only) and 16GB options
  • Wi-Fi 7
  • Bluetooth 5.4

The Battery and Charging

Despite being so small, silicon-carbon tech makes it possible for OnePlus to fit a 6,260mAh cell into this phone somehow. That’s ridiculous, in a good way. Paired with 80W wired charging, you shouldn’t have an issue juicing up such a massive cell.

The Cameras

The camera setup for the OnePlus 13T isn’t bad either. Sure, it doesn’t come with a triple-camera setup like most these days, but the setup that it does come with is good enough for most uses. Let’s take a quick peek at the camera hardware.

Main Camera Telephoto Camera Selfie Camera

The Pricing and Availability

The OnePlus 13T was launched in China, and for now, it will only be available there. However, it seems set for a global launch, so that’s very good news. The phone will start at CNY 3,399 (~$445) and the top model will cost CNY 4,499 (~$615).

Obviously, those prices won’t make it to the West, but if the top model stays under $1,000, it’ll make for a very good value smartphone option.
