The Galaxy S25 Edge Will Be Dainty But Might Be Very Durable

I don’t quite get the point of the Galaxy S25 Edge, and I’m sure I’ve said that before. No one was complaining that phones were too thick, so focusing on slimness at a premium doesn’t seem to make for a compelling buy to most consumers. However, there’s probably something I don’t see, since Apple will be following the same formula this year.

Despite its rumored 5.8mm thickness, making it the thinnest flagship we’ve seen in a long time, it seems Samsung isn’t going to hold back regarding durability and build quality. The frame and display will likely incorporate materials that we don’t see too often in the smartphone universe.

Samsung Might Bring Titanium to Its First Non-Ultra Device

The average higher-end smartphone uses aluminum for its metal frame. In recent years, we’ve seen a handful of flagships bring titanium instead, which is not only tougher but generally considered to be a more premium option. The Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra are the only smartphones that Samsung uses titanium for.

However, it seems that an additional model is going to join the fray, and that might be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. It focuses on its slimness, but perhaps to make up for the decreased durability that comes with that, the South Korean OEM will opt for a stronger material. It’d also explain why the leaked colorways all have “Titanium” preceding them.

Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 Could Make Its Debut With the S25 Edge

When the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra launched a few days ago, it brought Gorilla Glass Ceramic. It can be hard to keep track of the fast-moving developments in Corning’s glass technology for smartphones, but this name stood out. Ceramic is known for being tough, so the expectation is that this should be notably better than Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the last entry.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, according to Evan Blass, is rumored to come with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. Considering that the first variant only just came out a month ago, that’d be an extremely short lifecycle for the Gorilla Glass Ceramic. Either way, no one will complain as long as the S25 Edge finds itself more resistant to drops and scratches.

The Pricing for the Galaxy S25 Edge Has Leaked Too; It’ll Cost a Lot

With titanium, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, and a 5.8mm thickness—something not seen in the flagship smartphone space in ages—the S25 Edge is going to look very premium. It’s for that reason that you shouldn’t be surprised at the prospect of the device being quite expensive. The price was accidentally leaked by the official Samsung Canada website, and yep. It’s going to cost you a pretty penny.

For 256GB of storage, the Galaxy S25 Edge will cost CAD $1,678.99, and if you plan to double that storage, it’ll cost CAD $1,858.99. In USD, that will convert to ~$1,210 and ~$1,340, respectively. That’s S25 Ultra-grade, though the conversion will likely not be so straightforward for the US market. The current tariff situation makes things even less uncertain. Regardless, it’s going to be a very expensive phone, and that won’t change.
