We’re probably 132 days away from the iPhone 17 actually being announced, yet it’s starting to feel like the iPhone 17 has been out for that long.
That’s probably because we’ve seen every design of iPhone 17 in various forms ranging from schematics to renderings for months. We’ve also seen cases, dummy units, dummy units in cases, and now dummy units that look so real that they could easily be mistaken for the real thing.
The latest iPhone 17 preview comes from Sam Kohl’s AppleTrack YouTube channel. In the video, Sam compares physical models meant to recreate the rumored iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max designs. At this rate, I’ll be disappointed if we don’t have working models running a recreation of iOS 19 by the first half of May.
The video recaps the latest iPhone 17 line specs based on rumors, reports, and leaks. What’s especially interesting is how similar this video could be to an actual hands-on video from September when the new iPhones arrive. The dummy unit even looks a little bent, which will almost inevitably be a controversy with Apple’s ultra thin iPhone this fall.
If the iPhone 17 Air exists and looks like the dummy units claim, that model will be sure to be the newest looking iPhone this fall. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be unmistakable if they indeed ship with the giant camera bar that we expect as well. Meanwhile, we expect the iPhone 17 to basically look like the iPhone 16.
At any rate, these dummy unit models are awfully convincing — especially compared to the models I was working with a decade ago:
Anyway, check out Sam’s hands-on video with the future of the iPhone lineup below. The iPhone 17 Air must be in the ballpark of the iPod touch at this point:
