Staking Bitcoin Is A Thing? Yes, And Here’s How You Can Do It

Core Foundation CORE/USD on Thursday announced the rollout full integration of its Dual Staking architecture with Maple Finance SYRUP/USD, enabling institutional clients to earn yield on Bitcoin BTC/USD without bridging or wrapping assets.

The collaboration, launched less than two months ago, has already attracted over 1,200 BTC in deposits.

What Happened: This integration powers Maple’s Bitcoin Yield product, where BTC is held in segregated custody vaults at BitGo or Copper and deployed through Core’s native staking interface.

Without moving Bitcoin off-chain or wrapping it into synthetic assets, the setup allows institutions to stake BTC directly on the Bitcoin chain, paired with Core’s native token, CORE.

Deposits are used to borrow USDC USDC/USD at low loan-to-value ratios, acquire CORE, and stake both BTC and CORE within the Core validator ecosystem.

This “Dual Staking” model earns yield from validator emissions and gas fees, generating annual returns between 4% and 8%.

Rewards are converted into BTC and paid back to lenders in kind, maintaining native Bitcoin exposure for institutional participants.

“This marks a major step in the institutionalization of Bitcoin staking,” said Hong Sun, an institutional contributor to Core Foundation. “Institutions are demanding simplicity, custody compatibility, and clear yield mechanics.”

Maple’s product lead Joe Flanagan said, “Core’s technology allowed us to build a yield-bearing Bitcoin product that’s both intuitive and institution-ready.”

The partnership is also a precursor to lstBTC, a forthcoming liquid staked Bitcoin token that will enable capital-efficient use of staked BTC across trading and DeFi applications while preserving custodial security.

The Core–Maple collaboration demonstrates growing appetite for on-chain institutional yield strategies, as Bitcoin transitions from a non-yielding asset to a productive component of decentralized finance infrastructure.
