Apple’s biggest software announcements of the year are coming next month. WWDC kicks off June 9, and per a new report, there are three major themes for Apple’s announcements this year.
Apple’s WWDC announcements fall into three buckets, per Gurman
There’s a lot we already know about Apple’s plans for WWDC next month. For example, a big iOS 19 redesign is coming, plus a powerful new AirPods feature, Siri upgrades, and more.
But zooming out, there will reportedly be three major themes for the company’s announcements.
Mark Gurman writes at Bloomberg:
The conference should have three major themes: redesigned and more cohesive operating systems, new Apple Intelligence capabilities, and major enhancements to the iPad’s OS.
The first theme, “redesigned and more cohesive operating systems,” has been well established through a variety of prior rumors.
New Apple Intelligence features, however, haven’t previously been much of a focus in rumors.
In fact, Gurman has said before that he doesn’t expect much new from AI at WWDC this year. So it seems like he now believes more substantive changes are coming.
Finally, iPadOS 19 being a major focus is great news for iPad users. While we’d heard before that productivity updates were coming, this seems to indicate Apple has more in store than just a new feature or two.
Apple Intelligence curiosity
As a long-time iPad user, iPadOS 19’s changes are a big area of interest for me.
Surprisingly though, I may be even more curious about new Apple Intelligence capabilities.
Essentially what I’m wondering is: will Apple show new features that truly impress, adding real value to the everyday user’s experience? Or will its AI announcements point more to a company still playing catch-up in this increasingly important area of computing?
We’re only one month away from finding out.
