Apple’s biggest movie of the year is coming soon, here’s the new trailer

F1 is by far Apple’s biggest movie swing of the year. It’s the only title Apple will give a wide, lengthy theatrical release, in the hopes of it becoming the company’s first summer blockbuster. The new trailer just arrived, providing our best look yet at what’s coming.

New F1 trailer shows off Apple’s biggest movie yet

Over the past year, Apple has made a big shift with its movie strategy. Instead of putting many films in theaters first before they hit Apple TV+, the company is sending movies straight to its streamer.

This approach proved a hit with Wolfs last fall, and The Gorge earlier this year. Next week, Fountain of Youth looks like it could be the next Apple movie success.

But theatrical isn’t being abandoned entirely. Apple still has one massive theatrical bet, F1, premiering next month on June 27.

From Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski, the Brad Pitt-starring film was shot for IMAX and Apple hopes it can take off like Maverick did a few years ago.

F1’s new trailer was just released, revealing there’s definitely potential for a hit.

F1 movie is a risk for Apple and Hollywood

F1 reportedly has a budget nearing $300 million, which for any Hollywood studio would be a huge swing.

For Apple, while the company doesn’t exactly need to make a profit on F1, the stakes are still extremely high.

If F1 fails, Apple might give up on big theatrical movie releases altogether. This could be a blow to Hollywood, lending support to Netflix’s approach of direct-to-streaming only.

Regardless, expect to see F1 come to Apple TV+ some time this fall after its theatrical run concludes.
