PSA: iOS 18.5 RC users have a new build available now

Apple just launched its latest wave of software releases, including iOS 18.5, macOS Sequoia 15.5, watchOS 11.5, and more. If you’ve been running the RC beta version, though, there’s a new build for you to install too.

New iOS 18.5 beta build matches public launch version

Most of the time, when Apple publicly launches new software, it’s the same exact build as what beta testers first received.

The RC (release candidate) beta version is intended to be identical to what ships to all users.

Occasionally though, Apple will ship a second RC to beta testers ahead of release. At other times, no new RC will be released, but Apple will have a new beta build ready alongside the publicly launching version.

The latter scenario is what has happened today.

Last week’s iOS 18.5 RC carried build number 22F75.

Today’s public iOS 18.5 launch, however, is build 22F76.

As a result, if you’re part of the developer or public beta programs, this new, slightly revised version of iOS 18.5 is now available for download.

Don’t expect to see any feature changes in the new build, but there may be a bug fix or two that Apple was able to implement after shipping last week’s RC.
