Corsair’s New DIY Keyboard Kit Is Customizable and Web-Controlled

Corsair has found a way to combine regular keyboard customization with the simplicity of a ready-to-use keyboard. The Corsair MAKR 75 Barebones Keyboard Kit gives buyers a kit that, when assembled, looks great and operates extremely well.

The MAKR 75 comes with a wide range of features that are great for anyone new to DIY keyboard builders, but won’t be too simple for experienced builders. It has 8K hyper-polling for extremely fast response times and FlashTap SOCD (Simultaneous Opposite Direction) technology for accurate inputs.

The MAKR 75 comes with the Corsair Web Hub, a web-based tool that makes customization easy by removing the need for a downloadable app like Razer Synapse or Logitech G Hub. Features like remapping your keyboard, changing the RGB lights, and recording macros like you would in an app are all done through the web browser browser. I would prefer a browser-based device to an app because the apps take up space, so in some ways, using a browser is better than a downloaded application.

How I Built a Silent Mechanical Keyboard

Does your mechanical keyboard get a lot of flak for being too loud? I’ve been there, too. While the marbly click-clack is like music to our ears, not everyone at the office or home shares the same appreciation. Fortunately, there’s an easy solution: a completely silent mechanical keyboard.

The keyboard uses gasket mounting for a smoother, more comfortable typing feel, and eight layers of sound-dampening reduce unwanted noise. The screw-in stabilizers improve key press stability, while a sleek, fully aluminum frame adds durability and a high-end look. The MAKR 75 also supports add-on modules, allowing for more personalization and upgrades.

One thing Corsair is proud of is the major recognition the MAKR 75 has earned in the design world. It won both the prestigious Red Dot Best of the Best Design Award and the iF Design Award for 2025.

For those who can’t decide whether to spend time and effort building a custom keyboard or just buying a pre-built one, the MAKR 75 is worth a look. It isn’t going to be as customized as something you completely make from scratch, but it’s much more accessible for people new to building keyboards.

Keep in mind that you still have a lot to change, despite getting a kit. So, if you’re not confident, this could be the right way to go, but you should still try to look at keyboard building guides to have a good idea of how keyboard building works. Either way, there should be instructions in the kit to help you build it.

This feels like it’s a great in-between product between a pre-built keyboard and a fully custom board. It could be a new way of building keyboards, since it comes with ways to make the keyboard high-end, but with some limitations on how you do it, as this is still a kit. Corsair is a recognizable brand, so you know you’re getting a quality keyboard kit. Now is your chance if you’ve always wanted to make a keyboard.
