Don’t Move
Release Year |
2024 |
Runtime |
1h 32 min |
If you are a fan of crime thriller movies like Nightcrawler, then you are definitely going to enjoy every second of watching Don’t Move on Netflix. The movie revolves around Iris, played by Kelsey Asbille, who is grieving the loss of her young son during a family trip.
The story takes a dramatic turn when Iris is kidnapped, and the kidnapper injects her with a syringe that slowly begins to paralyze her body. You’ll witness how she fights back against her kidnapper while her body gradually succumbs to paralysis.
Don’t Move has an IMDb rating of 5.8, but the film is a classic example of why you shouldn’t always trust online ratings. That said, while the message, action sequences, and most aspects of the movie are excellent, I personally didn’t like the ending very much.

Carry On
Release Year |
2024 |
Runtime |
1h 59 min |
At the time of writing, Carry On is sitting comfortably on Netflix’s list of most popular movies, and there’s a good reason for that. The movie takes place on Christmas Eve and revolves around Ethan, who works as a TSA agent at Los Angeles International Airport.
While working his shift, he is contacted by a person known as “The Traveler,” who orders him to allow a particular carry-on case through the security check if he wants to save his girlfriend’s life. Ethan can’t even contact other security personnel, as there is another individual called “The Watcher,” who is constantly monitoring Ethan’s movements. If The Watcher discovers that Ethan is trying to do something suspicious, he will immediately kill Ethan’s girlfriend.
You’ll have to watch the movie to find out what’s inside the carry-on case and whether Ethan is able to protect his girlfriend from the ruthless mercenaries. The movie as a whole offers a complete action-thriller experience, but it does leave a lot of unanswered questions. Spoiler alert: I really didn’t understand what happened to Ethan’s boss body at the end.

Let Go
Release Year |
2024 |
Runtime |
1h 50 min |
I’d highly recommend all mothers watch Let Go. The movie delivers a strong message that, in the end, family is all that matters.
Let Go revolves around Stella, played by Josephine Bornebusch, who is also the writer and director of the movie. Her family is falling apar—her preschool son is always seeking her attention, her teenage daughter is constantly fighting with her, and things have gotten so bad with her husband that they are considering divorce.
But everything changes for the family when Stella receives a message, after which she decides to take her family on a trip. However, this isn’t going to be a normal family trip—she has to face various challenges to reunite her family.

Focus
Release Year |
2015 |
Runtime |
1h 45 min |
Starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie, Focus is a crime comedy-drama movie released in 2015. As the title suggests, one of the film’s key messages is to remind the audience never to lose focus on anything.
Nicky, played by Will Smith, is a seasoned con man who uses his skills to earn money. He later meets Jess, played by Margot Robbie. They fall in love and begin working together to make money by deceiving people.
Personally, I really like the betting scene between the gambler Liyuan Tse and Nicky. At first, you might think that Nicky has lost all his bets, but the twist the movie delivers at this point will leave your jaw dropped.

Inglourious Basterds
Release Year |
2009 |
Runtime |
2h 33 min |
Rated 8.5 on IMDb, Inglourious Basterds is the next movie on the list. Directed by Quentin Tarantino, you can expect graphic violence and sharp dialogue. The film also features many popular faces, including Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Christoph Waltz, and more.
Inglourious Basterds takes you to the first year of Germany’s occupation of France. Lieutenant Aldo Raine, played by Brad Pitt, assembles a team of Jewish soldiers to take action against the Nazis. I would like to warn you that the action is extremely violent, so be prepared.
Their objective is to take out the leader of the Third Reich while he is attending the premiere of a propaganda film. Whether Brad Pitt and his team succeed in their mission is something you’ll have to find out by watching the movie.
3
Spectral
Release Year |
2016 |
Runtime |
1h 47 min |
If you are a fan of sci-fi movies, I would recommend giving Spectral a chance. The very first thing I would like to point out about the movie is its CGI. The film is absolutely perfect when it comes to the use of visual effects and other artificially implemented elements.
Coming to the story, US soldiers are fighting against ghostly enemies that can’t be seen with the naked eye, nor can they be killed using standard weapons. As a result, the soldiers work together with scientists and engineers to find a way to protect the city.
While the movie relies heavily on the war concept, there are a few mysteries, such as the origin of the entities, that you will enjoy uncovering. Furthermore, there are a couple of twists in the movie that I found particularly impressive.
2
The Night Comes for Us
Release Year |
2018 |
Runtime |
2h 1 min |
The Night Comes For Us is an Indonesian action thriller film that was released in 2018. The movie is all about classic hand-to-hand combat, and personally, it is definitely among the most violent films I have ever watched. Furthermore, the final fight sequence between the Operator and the blade-wielding girl is so impressive that I am willing to watch the movie all over again just for that scene.
The story revolves around Ito, a highly skilled assassin for the Southeast Asian Triad. During one of his missions, where he is supposed to kill everyone in a village, he decides to spare the life of a young girl. By doing so, he disobeys his boss’s orders, and as a result, the Triad removes him from the team and wants both him and the girl dead. You will have to watch the movie to find out how, and even if, Ito is able to protect his and the girl’s lives from the Triad.
1
Ludo
Release Year |
2020 |
Runtime |
2h 30 min |
If you love Bollywood movies or are looking for a film to start your journey into them, I would highly recommend watching Ludo. If you aren’t aware, Ludo is a board game featuring dice, and the board is divided into four parts, each with a different color: red, blue, yellow, and green.
Just like the Ludo game, the movie dedicates four different colors to four separate stories, each following different characters. By the end of the movie, you will see how all four stories and characters are connected, which eventually leads to a climax that will make you laugh a lot. Yes, it is overall a comedy movie with a sprinkle of drama on top. The movie is available in four languages, including English.
With that, you have reached the end of the list. The best part about Netflix and other streaming services is that their content is constantly evolving. This means that every day, these platforms upload new content for their audiences. So, once you have finished watching the movies listed above, I recommend exploring Netflix further. You can follow my approach to discovering new movies—I simply read the description, and if it sounds interesting, I start watching it without a second thought.
