Apple expands IMAX screening of ‘F1: The Movie’, tickets on sale

Apple, Warner Bros, and IMAX are doubling down on the hype around Brad Pitt’s ‘F1: The Movie’, and have expanded the worldwide release. Tickets are on sale now. Here’s how to get them.

Vrooomm!

Following sold-out preview screenings in 25 cities, Warner Bros. Pictures and IMAX announced that they are expanding their Fan-First Premiere Screenings of ‘F1: The Movie’ to 400 IMAX theaters around the globe.

The special one-night-only event will now take place on June 23 at 7:00 p.m. local time, ahead of the film’s official release later that week.

If you want to secure your spot at the screening, act fast. Tickets can be found here, but probably not for much longer. My local theater seems to be sold out, so no spoilers until I get to watch it when it premieres for real.

Apple’s most ambitious movie yet

Directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, ‘F1: The Movie’ was filmed during real Grand Prix weekends and promises to be “the most authentic racing film of all time”. The movie reunites Kosinski with many Maverick collaborators, including Oscar-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda and composer Hans Zimmer.

The film is a major swing for Apple Original Films, which is co-distributing the project. It’s also a continuation of Apple’s push into premium theatrical events, as the company increasingly aims to turn its original content into global blockbusters ahead of their eventual streaming releases on Apple TV+.

Beyond the screening, ‘F1: The Movie’ opens internationally starting June 25, and in U.S. theaters and IMAX nationwide, on June 27.
