Many prioritize indoor smart lights, but outdoor lights are also important, and you can also make those smart, just like you would put a smart outdoor camera by your doorstep. Govee’s latest outdoor smart lights might be a good choice if you’ve been considering getting some to keep the lights on at night.
Govee has recently announced an expansion of its outdoor lighting collection with the introduction of three new products: the Outdoor Lamp Post Light, Outdoor Garden Lights, and Outdoor Clear Bulb String Lights. The Outdoor Lamp Post Light is, perhaps, the most interesting out of the three launches. This unit delivers 2,000 lumens of brightness through 60 high-efficiency white LEDs, offering a flexible color temperature range from soft warm to crisp clear light. 2,000 lumens is pretty bright, about four to five times the brightness of a standard regular LED lightbulb, which makes sense considering this is an outdoor light. It also boasts a beam reach of 10 meters.
It’s not just white/warm light, either. This has what Govee terms a “6-Zone Color Lighting Effect.” This is achieved through a wedge prism structure and 54 RGBIC lamp beads, divided into six zones, intended to eliminate dark spots and produce uniform gradients with a distinct petal-shaped illumination pattern. You can select from over 100 preset lighting effects or create your own. According to Govee, this is the first outdoor post lamp to integrate both multi-level motion and brightness sensors into a single unit. It includes three customizable motion detection zones and four levels of ambient light sensitivity, allowing the light to automatically adjust its output based on changing environmental conditions throughout the day and night. It’s also resistant to the elements with IP66 waterproofing, so it should take a little rain as well.
The Outdoor Garden Lights utilize RGBWWIC technology, paired with Govee’s self-developed 16-bit LuminBlend system, to render up to 16 million colors. Aside from just colored light, the Garden Lights feature full-spectrum white lamp beads that produce 1,100 lumens with a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 94, aimed at simulating natural sunlight to accurately display the true colors of plants. Of course, it also has an IP66 waterproof rating and a stated temperature resistance range of -20°C to 40°C.
The Outdoor Clear Bulb String Lights have a top brightness of 1,200 lumens. And for what it’s worth, they seem even more durable than the other two offerings in this announcement. We have an improved IP67 waterproof rating, and the bulbs are made from high-impact resistant PC material designed to prevent cracking and shattering, contributing to a claimed lifespan of up to 25,000 hours.
