The Samsung S85D OLED TV offers excellent picture quality, despite being a lower-tier model. While brightness could be improved and the Tizen OS is less intuitive than some competitors, its accurate colors, low input lag, and impressive HDR performance make it a strong contender.

Samsung’s 55-inch OLED smart TV is currently on sale at a big discount. The TV originally cost $1,699.99 but is now priced at $899.99 at Best Buy, an $800 discount.

This Samsung OLED has a 55-inch screen with a 3840×2160 resolution. This will give you sharp and detailed 4K Ultra HD images. Its 120Hz refresh rate keeps motion smooth, which is perfect for fast-moving scenes in movies and video games. The TV supports HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG high dynamic range formats, improving contrast and color for a more realistic picture. However, there’s no Dolby Vision support, just like every other Samsung TV.

For connections, it has four HDMI 2.1 ports, two USB ports, a LAN port, an Ex-Link port, and a coaxial cable input. The HDMI 2.1 ports support advanced features like 4K at 120Hz and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). The TV comes with a 20W speaker system that supports Dolby Atmos for great sound quality, though the built-in speakers might need a soundbar if you really want to appreciate the best audio experience.

The stand is easy to set up and snaps into place without screws. The included SolarCell Remote charges using a small solar panel on the back, so you don’t even need batteries, and you can put it up against a window for energy. The OLED runs on Samsung’s Tizen smart operating system. While Tizen is generally considered less powerful and feature-packed compared to other systems, it is simple and easy to navigate.

One detail that would often be overlooked is that, unlike some older Samsung models, the S85D does not have an ATSC 3.0 tuner, only a standard ATSC 1.0 tuner. ATSC 3.0 is the newer technology, also known as NextGen TV, which supports a higher 4K resolution and interactive content on select stations.

You can get the 55-inch OLED smart TV for $899.99 at Best Buy. This is almost 50% off from the original price of $1,699.99, so you should get this while you can.
