Having recently launched the TCL 20 SE and 20 5G, the brand that is better known for its range of value-for-money televisions in the US has announced that its 2019 and 2020 models are set to receive an upgrade to Android 11. This is great news but despite prepping at least one new television with Google TV for 2021, TCL hasn’t yet decided whether its older models will be updated to the new interface.

The Android 11 update will bring improvements such as low-latency mode, extended support for gamepad controllers, instant apps, a Gboard TV keyboard, and performance enhancements to the 2019 and 2020 line-ups. While’s it’s still deciding on including the Google TV interface to those older models, TCL has confirmed that its 2021 line-up will either run Google TV out of the box or get it via an update.

The proposed update for the older TCL televisions should begin rolling out in the third quarter of 2021.
