A WINCHESTER resident has relaunched an appeal to say thank you for staff at Winchester hospital’s ICU.
Melissa Murdoch has revived the successful ‘ICU Thank You Box’ during the third national lockdown.
The ICU team are again being pushed to their limits and desperately need drinks, snacks, food treats and shower products to keep them going whilst they continue their dedicated and tireless work to protect and save lives.
The Winchester ICU Appeal was originally started to help them feel a little better with a small token of appreciation to support their health and wellbeing courtesy of their local community.
The aim of this new appeal is to provide a ‘Thank You Box’ for every person on the Winchester ICU team – a treat to take home, packed with toiletries, treats, food snacks and drinks, hoping to lift their spirits in what is an incredibly testing time.
A box has been donated for each junior doctor, nurse, admin staff, and redeployed members of the ICU team.
The last appeal for £500 and 50 boxes – actually ended up with 185 boxes and £3000 of donations and thousands of pounds worth of donations from local companies.
Melissa said: “After the success of the last appeal and after speaking again to my friend who works in the team and hearing about how tough it is – in fact; tougher than before, I decided they needed Thank You boxes again. A small token from the community to show our support and thanks for their incredible work. We are looking for companies to again donate items to go in the boxes and have also set up a GoFundMe page for donations.
“We want to reach all members of the Winchester ICU team; so we are going to maintain our efforts on achieving these and then if there is still support from the community with donations, then we will keep making the boxes, so they can share with other teams.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up and local businesses are being asked for donations. For more, email winchestericuappeal@outlook.com or go to www.gofundme.com/f/Thank-You-Boxes-for-Winchester-ICU-DonateShare
