Since its ban on accessing Google apps and services, Huawei has been developing its own take on Android which is called HarmonyOS. Scheduled to be rolled out to Huawei handsets running EMUI 11 when it becomes available, it seems that HarmonyOS could debut on the upcoming P50 series.
Also known as Hong Meng, HarmonyOS was originally portrayed by Huawei as an alternative to Android but has since been discovered to be a fork of Android 10 by Ron Amadeo of ArsTechnica. Now at version 2.0, HarmonyOS could be pre-installed on at least one model of the P50 series at launch.
According to Rodent950, the P50 is a ‘factory ready’ HarmonyOS phone, meaning that it’s the pre-installed operating system which will likely feature Huawei’s AppGallery storefront if it comes to western markets, which isn’t a certainty at this time thanks to the ongoing US ban.
One thing you can be certain of with Huawei, HarmonyOS will be feature-rich, offering a slick user experience on the P50 series when it is officially announced sometime in the foreseeable future.
