AMD announced its new Ryzen PRO processors today. The new CPUs are from the company’s Ryzen 5000 series and have features built in for business users, including hardware-based security tools. The PRO processors from AMD are similar to Intel’s vPro chips and competes directly against those chips.
There are three new processors in the lineup, the Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U, Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U, Ryzen 3 PRO 5450U. Each processor is built on a 7nm node and has a 15W TSP. That 15W figure is especially notable when comparing the chips to competition from Intel, which includes 28W processors. AMD compared the Ryzen 7 PRO with the Intel Core i7-1185G7, which has a 28W TDP when announcing the new chips.
The AMD PRO chips also compete with Intel’s vPro processors in four areas highlighted by AMD; software stability planning, long-term availability, more intense quality control, and long-term validation.
Here are the specifics of the processors, all of which are built on AMD’s Zen 3 architecture.
The new Ryzen PRO 5000 Mobile CPUs should deliver long battery life and rigid security. They feature AMD Shadow Stack, are Secured Core PCs, and have FIPS 140-3 certification.
