Apple Watch Get Active Challenge: Bengaluru emerges as most active Indian city

In mid-February, Apple’s retail partners Ingram, Redington, and other authorised sellers launched the Get Active Challenge in India. People with Apple Watch competed with fellow participants by completing tasks on the ‘Challenges’ app.

It was not just against individuals but also between cities of the country. Participants earned points by closing the three circles- move, exercise and stand, on their Apple Watch.
At the end of each day, based on the points accumulated, the app hands out three badges– Bronze (40 points), Silver (60 points), and Gold (80 points). With this, users can improve the rankings of their cities.

In the month-long fitness competition, Bengaluru has emerged on top as the most active city among the 11 Indian cities.

The Get Active India challenge witnessed over 16,400 Apple Watch users across India participate and burn a total of around 118 million calories in 8.2 million-plus exercise minutes in the month-long challenge.

Bengaluru is followed by Delhi NCR in the second, Mumbai came in at third, while Hyderabad and Chennai complete as the top five active cities. They were followed by Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Lucknow.

“When adherence to your fitness plan starts to become a challenge. First, take a step back to reassess and recalibrate. Understand your current reality (which includes all your other responsibilities) and build a fitness plan that fits into your current scenario. For example, initially, you had planned to train for 30 mins 5 days a week, however, if that plan is hard to stick to because work has become very hectic, make a new plan, one that has you training for 30 mins 3 days a week instead. Basically, make your "win" scenario more attainable which will work to refuel your willpower to keep going and you avoid dealing with the demotivation that comes with failure,” said Swetha Subbiah.

Pick activities that you enjoy, if you force yourself to regularly do an activity that you do not like, that will eat into large chunks of your willpower reserves and you will eventually stop doing it all together. So swap it for something you find more fun and enjoyable,  Subbiah added.
