In a new blog post, Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty has announced that Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC) has been played by over 10 million players on PC since it launched in late 2019. This includes people who have played through Steam as well as the Microsoft Store on PC. These numbers indicate that the title has done well for Microsoft and 343 Industries, which is a good sign considering Halo hasn’t been a part of the PC gaming ecosystem since 2007’s Halo 2 Vista.
Halo Infinite, the next official entry in the franchise, is also releasing on PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. With any luck (and also several great PC features like crossplay) the game will perform even better than the MCC has. Only time will tell, but regardless, we’re excited to see how much success Xbox’s flagship franchise will achieve on PC.
What do you think of Halo’s success on PC so far? Let me know. We highly recommend playing the MCC while you wait for Halo Infinite, as it bundles all of the pre-Xbox One Halo shooters together for an amazing price. This makes it one of the best Xbox One shooters available, and a game that you definitely shouldn’t overlook.
