Microsoft has started rolling out its June security update for the Surface Duo, bringing with it the latest security patches from Google in addition to general OS bug fixes and enhancements. Microsoft has committed to releasing monthly OS updates for Surface Duo, and the June update is right on schedule.
The update bumps the version number from 2021.419.70 (US) to 2021.525.62.
We don’t yet know what’s new with this update, as Microsoft hasn’t provided a changelog. The company usually takes anywhere from a few hours to a whole day to post the changelog for these monthly updates, so we’ll be sure to update this article when the changelog finally does come through.
What we do know is the update is only about 84MB in size, making it the smallest monthly security patch yet. This likely means there’s not much new or changed with this release. Last months OS update was around 197MB for comparison. The update also brings the OS security version to Google’s June 5th security patch.
The update is rolling out now for unlocked models of the Surface Duo. The update for AT&T handset usually arrives a couple of weeks later. What are your thoughts on Surface Duo’s monthly OS updates? Let us know in the comments.
