After announcing the OnePlus Nord CE 5G and Nord N200 5G recently, OnePlus is apparently preparing to unleash the Nord 2 in the coming months. Rumored to be the first OnePlus handset to be powered by a MediaTek chipset, renders reveal the OnePlus 9 series DNA to be present in the Nord 2’s design.
Thanks to the renders from @OnLeaks and 91Mobiles, we can see that the Nord 2 looks similar in design to the OnePlus 9 series. A flat display with slim bezels is present and the rectangular rear camera housing has a trio of sensors and an LED flash module. Unlike the Nord CE 5G, the Nord 2 would appear to have an alert slider although it does not have a 3.5mm audio jack.
It’s believed that the Nord 2 will feature a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, with the trio of rear cameras consisting of a 50MP sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Possibly the biggest change over the original OnePlus Nord is the use of MediaTek’s flagship processor – the Dimensity 1200. It’s possible that the Nord 2 could also benefit from either 30W or 65W fast-charging, depending on how far OnePlus want to push the boat out. We also can expect that the Nord 2 will run Android 11/OxygenOS 11 out of the box, much like the Nord CE 5G and Nord N200 5G did.
Details on when the OnePlus Nord 2 will be officially announced are unknown at the time of writing but it’s surely going to be before the end of August.
