Destiny 2’s Solstice of Heroes event returns, begins July 6

Destiny 2 developer Bungie has announced the return of the Solstice of Heroes event, which is an uplifting event that celebrates the Guardians and their success at defending the Last City and all of humanity. The event begins July 6, 2021 and ends August 3, 2021, and will be free to all players (new players will need to complete the tutorial quests and unlock the Tower before they can participate).

During Solstice of Heroes, players will be able to load into the European Aerial Zone (EAZ) with a fireteam of other Guardians and will be tasked with killing as many bosses as possible so that each of their loot caches can be opened. Within these, players will find Solstice Packages and Solstice Key Fragments. By using the Solstice Key Fragments to unlock the Solstice Packages, you’ll be able to earn pieces of armor, weapons, materials, unique Solstice of Heroes gear, and random rolls for a new shotgun called the Compass Rose.

Players will also be able to unlock and upgrade unique pieces of Solstice armor by completing various objectives during the event. As your armor gets stronger, it will gain a special colored glow that will no doubt look excellent in many fashion setups. Each day during the event, there will also be featured elements. People who match their class and weapon elements with the daily featured element will be able to make use of some unique and special buffs in combat.

Overall, Solstice of Heroes sounds like a great time, and I’m excited to dive into it when it arrives next week. Will you be playing during the event? Let me know. For more on Solstice of Heroes, check out Bungie’s official homepage for it.

The latest Destiny 2 expansion, Destiny 2: Beyond Light, is available now for $40 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. The base game is free, so if you’re looking to try Destiny 2 out before paying for expansions or season passes, you can do so. It’s one of the best Xbox One shooters available right now, so I recommend giving it a shot.
