Google is testing out an App Drawer for the Nest Hub

Firing out voice commands to Google Assistant on your Nest Hub is great, but if you feel that you aren’t using the smart display to its full potential then you may be happy to learn that the search giant is testing an app drawer for the device that will make it easier to access all of its abilities.

The app drawer is accessed by pulling up the bottom sheet and then selecting “See All”, after which you’ll see both first and third-party apps shown in a grid. As you can see in the video above, the feature appears to be in early testing with the tester having some trouble pulling up the bottom sheet to access the app icons.

It’s a shift in strategy from Google that previously expected its algorithm to guess calculate which app you might want to use at any given time. Let us know in the comments below if the new Apps UI is something you might find useful.

He’s been an Android fan ever since owning an HTC Hero, with the Dell Streak being his first phablet. He currently carries an OPPO Find X2 Pro in his pockets, a Galaxy Tab S5e in his backpack, and thinks nothing of lugging a 17-inch laptop around the world. When not immersed in the world of Android and gadgets, he’s an avid sports fan, and like all South Africans, he loves a good Braai (BBQ).
