Microsoft has announced that it is holding a launch event on September 22nd where it will unveil a number of new Surface devices which could include the Surface Duo 2 and almost certainly a couple of new Windows laptops.
If Microsoft does announce the Surface Duo 2 during the event, hopefully it will be running on Android 11 and not the Android 10 firmware that its predecessor is currently languishing on, despite the regular security updates its received. It’s rumored that the Surface Duo 2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor which would be quite the step up in performance over the Snapdragon 845 that powered flagship smartphones in 2018.
The 2nd-gen Surface Duo is also thought to offer a much improved camera experience with as many as 3 rear cameras consisting of a main sensor, a telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide lens. The fingerprint sensor is thought to have been integrated into the side-mounted power button and we may even see the Surface Duo 2 available in a black colorway.
Microsoft’s launch event kicks off at 11am ET on September 22nd which gives the leaksters three weeks to come up with all the details.
