Apple TV+ Release Trailer for Todd Haynes’ Upcoming Documentary on The Velvet Underground

Apple TV+ released the trailer for Todd Haynes’ documentary, “The Velvet Underground,” which come out in theaters and on the streaming platform on Oct. 15.

Todd Haynes has made music documentaries, 1998’s “Velvet Goldmine” which covered the life and times of David Bowie, and then with 2007’s “I’m Not There,” a look at the elusive ethos of folk poet Bob Dylan.

The trailer features a quick view into the film’s vision offering images of the band, the artist collectives they were born with and the city that helped shaped it all. The clip then focuses on the Velvet Underground’s sound and Lou Reed’s unique approach to rock and roll, his persona and how a band of dissenters became one of the most influential forces in music history. The film will also feature previously unreleased performances and other footage of the band and their compatriots.

“The Velvet Underground” will be accompanied by a huge soundtrack featuring both classic Velvet Underground tracks and some other special musical offerings. Randall Poster, the music supervisor of the film, curated the score of the film with Haynes. The soundtrack will be released digitally and as a two-CD set on the same day that the film is released.
