LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Local kids are taking a big bite out of local produce.

The Great Apple Crunch happened in schools across the Coulee Region, as well as nationally.

Students took bites out of local apples all at the same time.

The program helps teach kids where their food comes from.

“We’re hoping that we can instill some education in our students that can actually help educate their families, their grandparents, aunts, and uncles, so that when they go home, they can talk about what they learned here at school and continue that education at home,” says Angie Wells, the Director of Coulee Children’s Center.

Kids at the Coulee Children’s Center also did art with apples and used apples in math and science projects.
