While the best monitors out there keep a pretty high price tag the rest of the year, they dip into the affordable range each Black Friday season. Right now, you can pick up the Samsung Odyssey G7 for $499 from Gamestop; a full $200 off its usual price tag.
The Samsung Odyssey G7 is not only a great PC gaming monitor, but it can double as an excellent display for the Xbox Series X and PS5 as well. Its native resolution comes in at 1440p, which is a great middle ground between 1080p and 4k, and you’ll get perks like a fast 240Hz refresh rate, NVIDIA G-Sync, and FreeSync Premium Pro certification. Because it can accept a 4K signal and downscale it to 1440p, it’s also a solid pick as one of the best Black Friday Xbox Series X deals if you want to set your console up on a desk.
If Gamestop isn’t your style, Amazon is currently running a deal on the G7 as well, albeit for $120 off instead of $200. Still, if you want to take advantage of Amazon Prime shipping, it’s a solid price cut. Also look out for Amazon price matching, which could even things up.
I’ve used an older version of this style of monitor from Samsung for years, and it’s been one of my favorite investments into my PC setup. With the Odyssey G7, Samsung has gone for a more aggressive 1000R curve, which practically envelops your entire vision with silky smooth frames in games.
