Sony Announces New Official PlayStation 5 Console Covers and Controllers – Review Geek

Sony's new colors for controllers and console covers, inspired by galaxies

Sony thinks your plain ol’ PlayStation 5 looks boring, so it just dropped these super cool galaxy-inspired colors to its accessory line. Soon, you’ll be able to snag a DualSense wireless controller or console cover in one of these more exciting designs.

This is great news, given how fans have long demanded that Sony sell swappable PS5 cover plates in a variety of designs and how aggressively Sony has responded to third-party retailers who have attempted to sell their own custom designs. Finally, PlayStation fans have a few extra options to choose from if they want a little extra customization.

The additions mean you’ll be able to choose a wireless controller in Nova Pink, Starlight Blue, and Galactic purple, which expand on Sony’s previously-released Midnight Black and Cosmic red color options.

Or, if you’re more into changing up how the console itself looks, perhaps one of the new console covers—available in those same five colors—is more enticing. Plus, the covers will be available for both the digital edition and the version with the Blu-ray disc drive. Swapping out the cover is a cinch, too, just pop off the original and click the new cover into place.

You can match the colors of the controllers and console colors, or mix them up for a more colorful vibe. The fun galaxy-inspired accessories will be available in January 2022 at select retailers in the U.S., Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Korea, and the Philippines. Sony plans to expand that listing throughout 2022, as well.

Interested? Stay tuned, as we’ll update this post with the official release date once Sony shares it. Or, if you’re feeling impatient and want to give your PS5 a cosmic makeover right now, you could always opt for a galaxy-themed skin decal set.
