Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 series is currently, and for the foreseeable future, the only way to experience the new unified Wear OS 3 platform but with its One UI overlay it’s not been clear what the ‘stock’ version actually looks like. This is the case no longer because an updated Wear OS 3 build has been posted by Google which has been emulated and screenshotted, revealing what the base software has to offer.
The un-One-UI-ified build of Wear OS 3 was discovered by a Reddit user who promptly loaded it up on an emulator and uploaded a bunch of screenshots to the site. Based on Android 11 still, the build features gradients but not the same aesthetic that you’d see on the Pixel 6 series that benefits from Android 12’s Material You UI.
The build was compiled on November 17th so it’s just about a month old, but it’s still likely a long wait until the official release eventually makes its way to those Snapdragon 4100-powered smartwatches from the likes of MobVoi and Fossil that are stuck on Wear OS. Still, at least it’s a sign that something is going on with the non-Samsung version of Wear OS 3.
