Today, (RED), the nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting to end HIV and AIDS (and lately COVID-19 as well), is celebrating its fifteen-year relationship with Apple.
In a video posted on its YouTube channel, the organization celebrated its partnership with the company and reiterated its commitment to helping communities fight back against the pandemic. You can watch “(RED) and Apple: 15 Years of INSPI(RED) Impact” below:
(RED) and Apple have a shared history in fighting to end HIV/AIDS. As a (RED) partner for 15 years, Apple has raised nearly $270 Million for the Global Fund through the sale of (PRODUCT)RED devices and accessories. With COVID threatening to undo the progress made to date in the AIDS fight, Apple has been engaging its customers in the fight against both pandemics year round and during key moments through the App Store, Apple Pay integrations, and employee engagement.
In addition to the film, (RED) announced that half of the proceeds from Apple products will go to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, while the other half will go to the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response. The nonprofit currently plans to keep this going until the end of this year.
A portion of proceeds from every (PRODUCT)RED purchase goes to the Global Fund to fight AIDS. From now until December 31, 2022, half of those proceeds will go to the Global Fund’s COVID-19 Response to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the fight to end AIDS. This will provide critical support to health systems most threatened by the outbreak, and, in turn, help preserve lifesaving HIV/AIDS programs in communities most in need in sub-Saharan Africa.
Apple sells a number of (PRODUCT)RED versions of its devices and accessories. From the iPhone to Apple Watch to cases and more, customers with the company have an array of choices to support (RED) when they are making a purchase.
Kuo: Apple’s AR/VR headset coming this year, but expect limited supplies
Apple’s first mixed reality headset will still come in 2022, according to a new research note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Expectations are that the headset will ship in small quantities towards the end of the year, leaving the device difficult to get hold of for those who are keen to see what Apple has been working on.
