DC United’s three-year deal with the blockchain technology provider XDC Network will see the club introduce a new fan token programme. XDC will replace Leidos on DC United’s jerseys starting this season. Thanks to this new partnership, fans will be able to buy, sell and trade NFTs.
XDC’s branding will also be visible on DC United’s training tops. The company’s logo XDC will replace national security, health and engineering solutions firm Leidos on the front of DC United’s jerseys. Leidos has been involved at DC United since 2014. Their latest deal saw Leidos pump $3 million into the club every year. The value of the XDC contract was not disclosed.
XDC will also operate as the official blockchain and NFT marketplace partner of FC United. The tokens acquired by the supporters will allow them to have special access at team events and will ensure exclusive experiences for them. The non-fungible tokens (NFTs) will be bought, sold or traded through XDC.

“Our partnership with the XDC Network enables us to present more meaningful fan experiences using their cutting edge blockchain technology and create rewarding engagement opportunities for our ever-growing black-and-red community,” said Danita Johnson, the president of business operations at DC United.
“What makes this unique for us is that it goes beyond a partnership. Through support from the XDC Foundation, we will use the blockchain by building a new fan experience on the XDC Network, which will deliver innovative ways for fans to engage with the club and gain access to blockchain education,” the official added.
