Microsoft is keeping up with its monthly update routine for Surface Duo 2. The February 25 update is now live coming in at a sizable 273MB and bringing the system version from 2021.1116.111 to 2022.104.111.

The update is more than just the Android Security updates, although it doesn’t introduce any new features as found in the December and January updates. Nonetheless, this update does seem substantial in that it continues to tweak the overall OS experience user interactions.

The full changelog for the February update is the following:

    • Addresses scenarios outlined in the Android Security Bulletin – February 2022
    • Improves system reliability and stability
    • Improves device performance and animations
    • Improves touch responsiveness
    • Improves camera performance with autofocus

It’ll be interesting to see how far this update improves things. However, the last two system patches had done a lot of fixing already, making Surface Duo 2 a much different device than when it first launched in October.

Those previous updates brought new features for the Slim Pen, including pen shortcut preferences in settings like launching OneNote, Your Phone “Apps,” improved camera usability, touch responsiveness, and other minor fixes like improving app navigations with added support animations.

To grab the update on Surface Duo 2, follow these instructions:

    1. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.
    2. Select Settings on your Surface Duo 2’s home screen.
    3. Select System.
    4. Select System Update.
    5. Select Check for update.
    6. Select Restart now.

The update is 273 MB, so it may take time to download depending on your current internet speeds.
