Sonic Origins is on the way, bringing a compilation of classic Sonic the Hedgehog games to modern systems very soon.
Publisher Sega shared on Wednesday that Sonic Origins has a release date of June 23, 2022. This collection includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. You can take a look at the release date announcement trailer and some footage from across the different games below:
Sonic Origins is headed to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC (through the Epic Games Store and Steam), PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. There’s a variety of different preorder bonuses and extras depending on what version of the game you opt to pick up and when you grab it. It’s fairly complicated, so you’ll want to study the chart below (you can tap or click the image to enlarge it):
The next mainline entry in the literally long-running franchise, Sonic Frontiers, is currently slated to arrive sometime in the Holiday 2022 period. This game appears to be a huge shift for the series as a whole, using what looks like an open world, at least from early trailers so far. Like Sonic Origins, it’s coming to all major platforms.
