How Technology Is Changing The World Today

As technology advances, so do the plethora of tech companies across the globe. From eCommerce to artificial intelligence, there’s certainly no lack of tech companies that are completely reshaping the industry and many of them are doing exceptionally well. It’s easy to see why, as the demand for tech continues to grow as a result of our growing dependence on it. The adverts we see on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, are all tailored to our interests via complex technology through an algorithm which picks up trends from our search history. We order food from apps, such as UberEats, on our mobile phones, using the internet to bring food to our doors in minutes. Even betting sites, such as William Hill, who offer free bets for new customers have immediate and live analysis online for just about every sport imaginable. And this would all be impossible without the huge leaps technology has took in the past few years. As the world in which we know it continues to rely more and more on technology, we’re looking at how technology has changed our daily lives for the better.

The World Is Now A Small Place

We’re small fish in a small pond nowadays. Everything is close and instantaneous. With just an Internet connection, a person in Australia can speak to a friend or loved one in New York immediately. It’s as if you’re right there in the room with them. Using the likes of Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime we can see and hear a family member or acquaintance in a heartbeat. On Facebook and WhatsApp, a message can be written, sent, and received, for free, from anywhere to anywhere in the world in a millisecond. Gone are the days of letters and expensive long-distance calls.

    Working Remotely

One of the biggest ways technology has changed our lives in recent years, is with regards to working from home. Through the use of apps such as Slack, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Skype, working remotely is now, more or less, exactly the same as being in the office. Communication is absolutely instant through these apps and websites, and communication is essential to maintaining a healthy and productive workflow.

    Access To Information

Our access to information is quite literally unbelievable. We take it for granted because we have become so accustomed to it, but it’s rather fascinating how through the internet, we can find out just about anything we want to. In our pockets, we have phones through which with just the touch of a button we have access to every encyclopedia in the world. On YouTube, we can find everything from short and funny videos to full-length documentaries and movies. On LinkedIn, we can find tips and tricks for our careers and we can make connections with people in similar jobs.

    Streaming Platforms

When was the last time you bought a DVD? I bet it was a while ago. Now, everything is online. In the past decade, the likes of Netflix, Mubi, Disney+, and FilmIn have completely revolutionised TV and film as we know it. We now have access to more or less every single movie in history immediately. With a strong WiFi connection, everything is available in HD in seconds.

    Personal Relationships

Tech has changed the way we meet friends and partners with apps such as Tinder, Bumble, and even the tech giant that is Facebook. Most couples now find love through their phones and it’s easy to see why. We can find compatible people, be it through mutual interests, similar careers, age, and appearance. Without ever meeting in person, we can learn so much about a potential new love who may go on to become a partner. Quite remarkable really.

    Conclusion

In conclusion, it’s fair to say that the tech boom which has blown up and evolved over the past twenty years, has changed the way we do absolutely everything in life. Work, pleasure, relationships will never be the same again. And as the moving animal which is technology continues to advance, so will the way we live our very lives.
