Several Apple trademarks surfaced last week that were filed in the U.S. and Europe. The most notable among them was Apple’s new trademark application for “Apple Music Pathway,” which focuses on music and the creative arts to promote and achieve anti-racism, race and gender equality, diversity, inclusion, and social justice.”
Trademark: Apple Music Pathway
Apple has filed for the trademark ‘Apple Music Pathway’ that was likely initiated by Apple Executive Lisa Jackson VP for Social Initiatives. The trademark was filed under three International Classifications as presented below:
Class 035: “Promoting public interest and awareness of issues and initiatives concerning anti-racism, diversity, inclusion, race and gender equality, and social justice by leading initiatives that inspire, educate, and activate people to take action and change culture.”
Class 036: “Charitable services, namely, providing philanthropic services in the nature of financial grants, donations of computer hardware and equipment, professional time, resources and guidance to organizations to promote anti-racism, race and gender equality, diversity, inclusion and social justice”
Class 045: “Providing internships, contractor opportunities and fellowships, encouragement and guidance for artistic and creative purposes that promote and demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, race and gender equality, diversity, inclusion, and social justice. Apple also filed for this trademark in Hong Kong, China, under application #305974589 using the same International Classes of 036 and 045 as their U.S. filing.
Figurative Trademark: Apple Account
Apple has filed for two trademarks relating to “Apple Account” with application #97433582 representing just the words and their second application # 97433591 representing their figurative trademark as presented in their supplied graphic below.
Apple filed both trademark applications under two International Classes as presented below relating to financial services:
Class 009: “Computer software; computer software for the storage of prepaid balances for use in connection with payments for goods and services; downloadable and recorded computer software used in electronic funds storage and payment services; downloadable and recorded computer software for the storage, transmission, verification, and authentication of stored funds and gift card balances; downloadable and recorded computer software for providing electronic payment and transaction information; computer software for the storage of gift card balances; computer software for use in making payments using stored gift card balances.”

Apple EU Trademark Filing for “Charging” Symbol
Apple has filed a figurative trademark under number 018699245 in Europe (London) for their charging symbol as presented below.

Apple filed their trademark specifically under International Class 009 covering: “Charging devices for digital electronic devices; wireless charging devices for computers, digital electronic devices, mobile phones, media players, smartwatches, wearable computer, earphones, earphone cases, and computer peripherals; wireless chargers; wireless charging cases.”
It should be noted that international trademark classes that Apple files their trademarks under are important as the trademark registration will only protect those classes that have been identified in their original application. In a legal battle, the classes filed for originally could make or break a legal case.
