If a regular smartphone isn’t tough enough to take to work or on adventures, Samsung has long offered a rugged series of phones with mid-range specifications as an option. The next iteration of this series is the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro and ahead of its launch there are leaked official renders and specifications to take a look at.
The leaked images and information come via Giznext and @OnLeaks, revealing pretty much everything about the tall, rugged smartphone. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G processor and accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the XCover 6 Pro also sports 5G connectivity, a big and tall 6.6-inch TFT display with FHD+ resolution, and a 60Hz refresh rate. It’s said to have a 4.050mAh battery and will run Android 12 out of the box.
Aside from the 13MP selfie camera that is housed in the central punch-hole cutout on the display, the XCover 6 Pro has a 50MP main camera along with an 8MP or 12MP ultra-wide lens. There’s a 3.5mm audio jack present, and you’ll also find what is believed to be a dedicated voice assistant button on the side, it’s unclear whether this is for Bixby or the Google Assistant at this point.
As you might expect from a rugged smartphone, it boasts IP68 water and dust protection along with thickish bezels, a plastic construction, and a thicker profile than you would see on the Galaxy S22.
For the moment, there’s no word on when Samsung will unveil the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, but given the quality of the leaked images and hardware, we would expect it sometime during the next couple of months at the latest.
