POCO’s F4 and X4 GT are the brand’s latest assault on the affordable smartphone segment and pack in some some surprisingly premium features considering their price points. The POCO F4 and X4 GT are powered by the Snapdragon 870 and Dimensity 8100 chipsets, respectively, with both units featuring FHD+ displays with high refresh rates and 67W fast charging.
POCO X4 GT
Powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8100, the POCO X4 GT also has 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, along with a 6.66-inch LCD display with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate which should please the gamers. The display also supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, and DC Dimming which should be of internet for those sensitive to PWM levels. On the back are a trio of cameras consisting of a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro lens. There’s a 16MP selfie camera housed in the ‘Dot Display’ as POCO call it but what is best known as a teardrop notch. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the side of the phone and not under the display.
The 5,080mAh battery supports 67W fast charging which POCO say is good enough to fully recharge the phone in just 46 minutes. In case you were wondering, a 67W wall charger does ship with the phone. WiFi 6 is supported and thanks to the MediaTek chipset, so is Bluetooth 5.3. Finally, the POCO X4 GT launches running MIUI 13 which is based on Android 12.
The POCO X4 GT is available in Blue, Black, and Silver colorways with a starting RRP of €349 although you can save €50 with the Early-Bird promotion.
POCO F4
Unlike the X4 GT, the POCO F4 is makes use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 chipset which is paired with 6/8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. At 6.67-inches, the F4’s FHD+ display is infinitesimally larger than the X4 GT’s although it has to make do with a 120Hz refresh rate. It does, however, support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
The F4 is a slightly odd mix of hardware when compared to the X4 GT, thanks to it supporting Bluetooth 5.2 and having a smaller 4,500mAh battery (with 67W charging) while sporting a 64MP main camera with OIS, which is a first for a POCO phone. It’s also more expensive than the X4 GT, so it’s definitely a phone to consider if you require a very specific feature. If not, the X4 GT makes more sense.
The afore-mentioned 64MP main camera is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens, with a 20MP selfie camera in a tear-drop notch in the display. As with the X4 GT, the POCO F4 runs the Android 12-based MIUI 13 out of the box.
Continuing the slight oddness, the POCO F4 goes on sale from June 27th in Black, Green, and Silver colorways with a starting RRP of €399/£379, although you can snag it from €349/£279 in the early-bird promotion.
