It’s apple season! As fall begins to approach Indianapolis, it’s time to get ready for one of the season’s best activities: Visiting an apple orchard for apple picking!
Most apple orchards near Indianapolis open in mid to late August and continue offering apple picking until late October.
And with apple varieties ripening soon, it’s a great time to try out your favorite fall recipes. Use this apple orchards guide to help plan a perfect autumn’s day and maybe a perfect meal too.
Where to go apple picking near Indianapolis:
1. Anderson Orchard
Address: 369 E Greencastle Rd, Mooresville, 46158
Dates: U-Pick begins August 6, 2022
Hours: Daily, 8 am-8 pm
U-pick, country store stocked with seasonal produce. After you pick your apples, stop by the Concession Stand for homemade apple cider or a caramel apple! This year’s Apple Festival & Craft Fair will take place on September 24-25.
2. Beasley’s Orchard
Address: 2304 E Main St, Danville
U-Pick Apple Dates: Labor Day Weekend through October

Beasley’s Orchard prides itself on having the “Best Apple Cider in Indiana” due to its multi-year winnings of the Indiana State Cider Contest. Be sure to stop by to see what all the fuss is about!
3. Chandler’s Orchard & Country Market
Address: 2849 S Co Rd 825 E, Fillmore
U-Pick Apple Dates: 1st of September to the end of October
Hours: Tuesday – Saturday: 10 am-6 pm; Sunday: 1-6 pm
Chandler’s Orchard has nearly 75 varieties of apples and fresh apple cider. Apple varieties include anything from common commercial varieties like Cameo, Golden Delicious, Jonagold, and Honey Crisp to more unique varieties like Priscilla, Brown Russet, Blue Pearmain, Strawberry Pippin, Hudson’s Golden Gem and many more!
4. Pleasant View Orchard
Address: 10721 N 850 W, Fairland
U-Pick Apple Dates: Every day from early August through the end of October
Hours: Daily, 9 am-6 pm
Pleasant View boasts over 40 acres and 20 apple varieties available for u-pick or purchase. Check out their apple chart for everything you need to know before you pick!
5. Stuckey Farm
Address: 19975 Hamilton Boone Rd, Sheridan 46069
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 am-6 pm; Saturday, 9 am-5 pm; Closed Sunday
Pick from 38 varieties of apples from their 5,000 trees, take a wagon ride through the orchard, watch them press cider, and even enjoy a picnic. For the kids they have a huge play area we call “Adventure Acres” that even includes a 60 foot slide!
6. Tuttle Orchards
Address: 5717 N 300 W, Greenfield
U-Pick Apples Dates: August 26 – October 2022
Hours: Monday – Saturday, 9 am-6 pm; Sunday, closed
Cost: You may choose from $8, $16, or $25 bags available for picking. You may pick as many as you want, but you must purchase all the apples that you pick.
Many families in central Indiana make it a yearly tradition to visit Tuttle Orchards for apple picking in the fall. They have over ten acres of dwarf variety apple trees just for picking your own apples.
Cortland – typically the second week of Sept. through late September.
Jonathan – typically the second or third week of Sep through early October.
Red Delicious – typically last week of Sep through mid-October.
Gold Delicious – typically last week of September through mid-October.
