Apple expands Apple Pay to users in Malaysia

Apple is expanding Apple Pay to Malaysia, with users in the country beginning to receive emails from Apple announcing the imminent service launch, and Malaysian banks AmBank and Maybank sharing new pages promoting Apple Pay on their websites, although these new web pages have mysteriously been pulled, suggesting Apple may have prematurely started sending emails ahead of an imminent announcement.

Users on Twitter have been quick to share screenshots of the emails they have received from Apple announcing the launch of Apple Pay in the country, with other sharing captures from the AmBank and Maybank web pages confirming Apple Pay support.

As of the time of writing, Apple’s official support page shows Apple Pay as unsupported in Malaysia, contracting the emails received by users in the country. It seems as if the iPhone maker is ready to make the official announcement at any moment, with the two supporting banks likely to re-release their web pages at the same time.

Thanks for the tip, Zefel.
