Apple Worker Loses Appeal in Job Bias Suit Based on Son’s Autism


A former Apple Inc. product support employee failed to show he was denied a promotion and stock bonuses because of his son’s autism or because he was perceived as disabled, the Ninth Circuit ruled.

A lower court properly granted summary judgment against Raja Kannan because it was his manager’s boss who had final approval over whether Kannan was promoted to the IC5 level and whether he received discretionary restricted stock units, the court said.
