Apple has started selling refurbished M2 MacBook Pros in the United States and Canada through its online store. You can save up to $200 off the MSRP of the computer by buying the refurbished model directly from Apple.
The M2 MacBook Pro looks the same as the 2020 model, with the switch to a newer chip being the only upgrade.
M2 MacBook Pro packs new internals in old chassis
Apple unveiled the 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro at WWDC22. Compared to the M1, the second-gen M2 chip features an 18% faster CPU, 35% more powerful GPU and 40% faster Neural Engine. In benchmarks and real-life use, the machine is about 25% faster than the M1 model.
Barring the chip change, the M2 MacBook Pro is the same as its predecessor. You get a 13-inch Retina Display, a Touch Bar and a Magic Keyboard. There’s no HDMI port, SD card slot or MagSafe port as seen on the 2021 MacBook Pros.
The entry-level M2 MacBook Pro carries an MSRP of $1,299. This will go up as you configure the machine with more RAM and storage.
On Apple’s certified refurbished store in the United States, you can get the entry-level model for $1,169 — saving $130. Another model with 512GB storage is also in stock in the store right now. It is available for $1,349, translating into a saving of $150.
Refurbished Apple products are like brand-new
All certified refurbished M2 MacBook Pro units carry the standard one-year warranty. They are also eligible for Apple Care+ coverage for up to three years for added protection. Apple thoroughly inspects and cleans refurbished products, then ships them in a new white box with new power cables.
Apple restocks its refurbished store at least once a week. So if the M2 MacBook Pro configuration you want is not listed now, keep checking the store regularly.
