Bit Digital Investors Reach Deal on Bitcoin Mining Deceit Claims

A proposed $2.1 million settlement between Bit Digital Inc. and its stockholders over allegedly false statements about the company’s bitcoin mining should be approved in light of the risky prospects of continued class litigation, the investors told a federal court.

Even though lead plaintiff Joseph Franklin Monkam Nitcheu presented testimony estimating that maximum potential damages could reach $123 million, there’s a real risk the class could recover nothing at all, he said. The US District Court for the Southern District of New York should find the proposed deal fair and reasonable, he said in the filing Monday.
