Austin Swankler, a native of North Huntingdon who was the fifth-leading scorer in NCAA men’s hockey last season with Bowling Green, has transferred to Michigan Tech.
He announced his new school via his account on X, formely known as Twitter, Monday.
On Friday, Swankler alleged he was the victim of hazing at Bowling Green via X.
“I came out about everything that happened to stop future incidents from occurring,” Swankler wrote. “Hazing is a serious issue especially to this school. So before you saying (sic) I’m dragging the school through mud know the facts. I know the facts because I was a victim.”
Bowling Green suspended three unidentified players and placed head coach Ty Eigner on administrative leave Sept. 18.
Per a release from the school, local law enforcement officials in Ohio — a state with specific laws regarding hazing — were notified and Bowling Green initiated its own investigation.
As a sophomore center last season, Swankler, 22, recorded 44 points (19 goals, 25 assists) in 35 games. In July, he attended the Vegas Golden Knights prospect camp as nonroster invitee. He participated in the Nashville Predators’ prospect camp in a similar capacity in 2022.
