Bad news – Some Galaxy S24 phones will be powered by an Exynos processor

We know. Exynos processors aren’t what many Samsung fans want to see powering the brands’ next range of flagship smartphones. We get it, and stand resolutely with you. But, after going all in on Qualcomm’s excellent Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for the Galaxy S23 series, it seems that Samsung is regressing to the policy of using an Exynos chipset for some of its upcoming Galaxy S24 handsets.

It’s unusual to have a competitor confirm that a certain brands product will be used, but Qualcomm’s CEO has done just that. During Qualcomm’s latest earnings call, CEO Cristiano Amon has confirmed that Samsung is returning to its policy of powering at least some Galaxy S24 models with Exynos chipsets, as stated below:

“We’re happy with our partnership with Samsung. There’s the upcoming launch of the GS24. We expect to have the majority share.”

This means that in some regions, most likely Europe, there will be Galaxy S24 models powered by the Exynos 2400 processor which is yet to be officially announced by Samsung. Who knows, perhaps this time Samsung will manage to match the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s performance with its Exynos alternative, but going by past history we are somewhat doubtful.

In the US, there is little need to worry about Samsung’s return to bad habits as traditionally it only offers the Snapdragon-powered variant here.
