French consultant Egis has signed a memorandum of understanding with Nera, a subsidiary of Saudi Air Navigation Services, to provide expertise in air traffic management and airport development, design, and operation.

Nera was set up to provide technical consulting to the aviation sector.

The pair will develop a list of projects to collaborate on.

Egis noted that Saudi Arabia’s tourism strategy aims to attract 100 million visitors by 2030.

“A high-performing aviation sector will be key to achieving these ambitions, and this means collaborating and innovating,” said Thanos Deriziotis, Egis’ aviation director for the Middle East and South Asia.

Egis is currently providing services to airports in Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, AlUla, and Amaala, and has also recently signed a three-year contract with Matarat to provide consulting services to 26 airports around Saudi Arabia.
